The acupuncture point "CV 23" , 廉泉, is represented by "Lian Quan" in pinyin and "Ridge Spring" in english and may be found:

At the upper border of hyoid bone.


Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Main point for speech/mouth disorders, often used in stroke vicitims - swelling and pain in the throat/tongue area, stiff tongue, inability to speak, difficulty swallowing.
  • Salivation issues - excessive drooling or dry mouth/thirst.
