Acupuncture Point Theory
LU 1 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory
The acupuncture point "LU 1" , 中府, is represented by "Zhong Fu" in pinyin and "Central Treasury" in english and may be found:
6 cun lateral to the anterior midline, level with the 1st ICS.
Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:
- Lung Front MU Point - useful for all LU Issues, especially of Excess Type - cough, wheezing, asthma.
- LU disharmonies involving Phlegm/Heat excess arising from the middle warmer - vomiting, difficult ingestion.
LU 1 has some precautions to be considered (see our precautions list).
No Deep Needling (NDN)
Lu 1 has the following theoretical associations which serve as important guideposts in designing an effective treatment protocol:
- Front Mu Point
- Intersection Point of the LU & SP Meridians
Explore lu 1 functional groupings theory - Entry Exit Point and/or MuShu, or read all point categories and related theory.
A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. LU1, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Lung Dampness - Phlegm Heat and/or Lung Qi Deficiency
LU 1 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Asthma, Cough, Vomiting and/or Wheezing (Dyspnea)
While not necessarily valid clinically, KD 25 (Local Point, generally useful for cough, chest te…), KD 26 (Local Point, generally useful for cough, chest te…), SP 20 (Aids the descent of lung qi - cough, shortness of…) and ST 14 (Cough. Sensation of tightness a/or fullness in t…) are nearby.
