LU 2 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "LU 2" , 雲門, is represented by "Yun Men" in pinyin and "Cloud Gate" in english and may be found:

6 cun lateral to the anterior midline, below the clavicle in a depression medial to the coracoid process.

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Similar to LU 1 but used more often as a local shoulder point.
  • Cough, asthma, tension in the chest.

LU 2 has some precautions to be considered (see our precautions list).

No Deep Needling (NDN)

A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. LU2, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Lung Qi Deficiency

LU 2 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Asthma, Cough and/or Shoulder Pain

While not necessarily valid clinically, KD 26 (Local Point, generally useful for cough, chest te…), LI 15 (Shoulder Disorders, rotator cuff injuries, adhesi…) and ST 13 (Asthma, cough, wheezing, chest distention, hiccup…) are nearby.
