LV 12 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "LV 12" , 急脈, is represented by "Ji Mai" in pinyin and "Urgent Pulse" in english and may be found:

Lateral to the pubic tubercle, lateral and inferior to ST 30, in the inguinal groove where the femoral artery is palpable, 2.5 cun lateral to the anterior midline.


Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Local Point.
  • May be useful for groin pain.

LV 12 has some precautions to be considered (see our precautions list).

No needling.

While not necessarily valid clinically, KD 11 (KD 11, KD 12, KD 13, KD 14 & KD 15 all inters…) and SP 12 (Used for a variety of urinary disorders (retentio…) are nearby.
