SP 20 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "SP 20" , 周榮, is represented by "Zhourong" in pinyin and "All-Round Flourishing" in english and may be found:

6 cun lateral to the anterior midline in the 2nd inter-costal space.

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Aids the descent of lung qi - cough, shortness of breath, chest oppression.
  • Noted for difficulty in ingesting foods.

A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. SP20, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Lung Rebellious Qi

SP 20 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Asthma, Cough and/or Indigestion

While not necessarily valid clinically, CV 19 ( Local point for chest issues - pain, cough, a…), KD 25 (Local Point, generally useful for cough, chest te…), LU 1 (Lung Front MU Point - useful for all LU Issues, e…) and ST 15 (Asthma, chest oppression, fullness a/or pain in t…) are nearby.
