HT 8 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory
The acupuncture point "HT 8" , 少府, is represented by "Shao Fu" in pinyin and "Lesser Mansion" in english and may be found:
When a loose fist is made where the tip of the little finger rests between the 4th and 5th metacarpal bones.
Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:
- HT Fire effecting the SI effecting the UB, heat descending to the lower jiao - incontinence, difficult urination, fungal infections, genital itching.
- Channel issues, sore throat, tongue stiffness, pain along the ulnar aspect of the arms.
- Heart Qi Deficiency - palpitations, fear, hot palms.
- Emotional disorders - although PC 8 may be a better choice.
- HT Fire effecting the mouth - ulcers, canker sores, etc. - although PC 7 or PC 8 may be a better choice.
- Local point for arm pain, elbow pain, and/or pain in the pinky finger.

A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. HT8, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Bladder Damp Heat and/or Heart Fire
HT 8 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Arm Pain, Canker Sores (Cold Sores), Genital Pain - Swelling, Incontinence, Palpitations, Sweaty Palms (Hyperhidrosis), Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) and/or Uterine Bleeding
While not necessarily valid clinically, EX Yaotongxue (Acute issues of the low back - pain, sprain, stra…), PC 8 (Excess heat conditions, more cooling than PC 7 wh…), SI 3 (Master Point of the GV, effects entire pathway. …) and TH 3 (Ear Problems of any etiology such as excess tinni…) are nearby.
