LI 5 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory
The acupuncture point "LI 5" , 陽谿, is represented by "Yang Xi" in pinyin and "Yang Ravine" in english and may be found:
On the radial side of the wrist in a depression between extensor pollicis longus and brevis tendons, found when the thumb is tilted upward.
Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:
- Local point for wrist pain.
- Classically noted with LI 7 for "seeing ghosts," may be useful in manic conditions.
Li 5 has the following theoretical associations which serve as important guideposts in designing an effective treatment protocol:
LI 5 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Manic Depression and/or Wrist Pain
