ST 21 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "ST 21" , 梁門, is represented by "Liangmen" in pinyin and "Beam Gate" in english and may be found:

2 cun lateral to the AML level with CV 12.

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Tonifies Middle Warmer, assists CV 12.
  • Epigastric pain, accumulations of food in the abdomen a/or palpable masses, vomiting.
  • Diarrhea, poor appetite, anorexia.

A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. ST21, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Spleen Qi Deficiency and/or Stomach Qi Deficiency

ST 21 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Abdominal Pain, Anorexia Nervosa, Diarrhea, Digestive Issues, Epigastric Pain and/or Vomiting

While not necessarily valid clinically, CV 12 (CV 12 is useful for middle warmer issues, whereas…) and KD 19 (Local point for abdominal and intestinal pain. V…) are nearby.
