TH 17 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "TH 17" , 翳風, is represented by "Yifeng" in pinyin and "Wind Screen" in english and may be found:

Posterior to lobule of ear in depression between the mandible and mastoid process.

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Wind problems deriving from internal or external sources, Bell's palsy.
  • Ear problems, tinnitus, deafness, acute earache due to wind cold

Th 17 has the following theoretical associations which serve as important guideposts in designing an effective treatment protocol:

  • Intersection Point of the TH & GB Channels

While not necessarily valid clinically, EX Xinming 1 (Xinming points were discovered by clinicians in t…), EX Xinming 2 (Xinming points were discovered by clinicians in t…) and SI 19 (Ear problems of any etiology, inflammation, deafn…) are nearby.
