LU 11 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory
The acupuncture point "LU 11" , 少商, is represented by "Shao Shang" in pinyin and "Lesser Shang" in english and may be found:
.1 cun posterior to the thumb nail on the radial side.
Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:
- Extreme sore throat (may bleed point to reduce heat).
- Revival point especially from wind-stroke.
LU 11 has some precautions to be considered (see our precautions list).

Lu 11 has the following theoretical associations which serve as important guideposts in designing an effective treatment protocol:
Explore lu 11 functional groupings theory - Five Shu and/or Ghost Point, or read all point categories and related theory.
A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. LU11, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Liver Wind and/or Lung Wind Invasion - Wind Heat
LU 11 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Sore Throat and/or Stroke (CVA)
While not necessarily valid clinically, LI 1 (Jing Well Point, for heat, pain, stagnation, espe…) are nearby.
