Theory

The acupuncture point "LU 4" , 俠白, is represented by "Xia Bai" in pinyin and "Guarding White" in english and may be found:

1 cun below LU 3 on the radial side of the biceps brachii muscle, on the LU 3 to LU 5 line.


Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Local Point.
  • May be used for cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, heart pain.
  • Pain in the medial aspect of the upper arm.

LU 4 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Arm Pain and/or Cough

While not necessarily valid clinically, HT 2 (Local point - in many classics needling this poin…), LI 13 (Local point for pain in the elbow and upper arm. …) and PC 2 (Opens the chest and invigorates the blood - cardi…) are nearby.
