SP 1 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory
The acupuncture point "SP 1" , 隱白, is represented by "Yinbai" in pinyin and "Hidden White" in english and may be found:
On the medial side of the big toe .1 cun posterior to the corner of the nail
Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:
- Any Bleeding Issues, esp. from SP Deficiency - reckless bleeding, hemorrhage, blood in the urine/stools.
- Emotional issues esp. with aspects of worry - worried dreams, depression.
- Possibly useful for eating disorders originating from stress/worry.
Sp 1 has the following theoretical associations which serve as important guideposts in designing an effective treatment protocol:
Explore sp 1 functional groupings theory - Entry Exit Point, Five Shu and/or Ghost Point, or read all point categories and related theory.
A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. SP1, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Spleen Not Controlling the Blood
SP 1 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Anorexia Nervosa, Depression and/or Menorrhagia (Heavy Menstrual Bleeding)
While not necessarily valid clinically, LV 1 (Jing Well Point - loss of consciousness, moves Qi…) and ST 45 (Release heat a/or move stagnation from the channe…) are nearby.
