Natural and Alternative Abdominal Pain Treatment Options

Abdominal Pain Treatment {introduction}

Abdominal pain indicates pain in the abdominal area which extends from your rib line down to your groin. Pain within this area can arise by stomach issues as well as problems within any of the other organs in the abdominal cavity. People may experience mild or severe pain and this can indicate any number of health issues.

Below you will find alternative and natural treatment options including those from a Chinese Medicine perspective for abdominal pain.

TCM Diagnostic Patterns Related to Abdominal Pain

Listed below are Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnostic patterns that are commonly involved with this western medical condition/symptom. Properly applied, Chinese Medicine (including acupuncture and herbal medicine) treats patterns not individual symptoms/conditions which may better account for the range of symptoms often experienced by individuals. Pattern diagnosis/treatment is a crucial part of using Chinese Medicine for disease prevention instead of focusing on solely symptomatic treatments as is somewhat more common in western medicine. For more on this concept, please read What Does Acupuncture Treat? Or Treating the "Cause" and not the "Symptoms".

    For many of us in the west, and in the United States particularly, acupuncture is thought of as a relatively new phenomena. In reality acupuncture has been with us quite some time - even in the west. The first known traces of Chinese Medicine works date back between the 18th and 16th centuries BC - approximately 3800 years ago.
