Natural and Alternative Palpitations Treatment Options

Palpitations Treatment {introduction}

A palpitation is characterized by an irregularly fast or hard heartbeat or the sensation of the heart fluttering or skipping a beat. Several different factors can cause a heart palpitation, most of which are not problematic. These include high emotions such as fear or stress, strenuous activity, hormones, certain medications or drugs, and some medical conditions such as hyperthyroidism and anemia. Sometimes, however, palpitations can be the symptom of an arrhythmia, which causes the heart to beat too fast, too slowly or irregularly. An arrhythmia can be the sign of an underlying heart problem such as heart failure or heart attack.
Below you will find alternative and natural treatment options including those from a Chinese Medicine perspective for Palpitations.

TCM Diagnostic Patterns Related to Palpitations

Listed below are Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnostic patterns that are commonly involved with this western medical condition/symptom. Properly applied, Chinese Medicine (including acupuncture and herbal medicine) treats patterns not individual symptoms/conditions which may better account for the range of symptoms often experienced by individuals. Pattern diagnosis/treatment is a crucial part of using Chinese Medicine for disease prevention instead of focusing on solely symptomatic treatments as is somewhat more common in western medicine. For more on this concept, please read What Does Acupuncture Treat? Or Treating the "Cause" and not the "Symptoms".
