EX Huatuojiaji at C7 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "EX Huatuojiaji at C7" , 華佗夾脊, is represented by "Huatuojiaji" in pinyin and "Sides of Spine at C7" in english and may be found:

.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous processes of C7


Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • C7 innervates the parathyroid gland and as it has a role in calcium utilization, this point is use dfor a range of bone problems, arthritis, bone spurs, osteoporosis, etc.  Also used locally for problems down in the arm and hands, shoulder pain, carpal tunnel, etc.
  • Used extensively within the Tam Healing System and Tong Ren Therapy. The cervical huatuo points are not needled as often, but used with tuina and/or tonren therapy.

EX Huatuojiaji at C7 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Arthritis (Bi Syndromes), Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), Osteoarthritis (OA), Osteoporosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and/or Shoulder Pain
