EX Huatuojiaji at T4 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "EX Huatuojiaji at T4" , 華佗夾脊, is represented by "Huatuojiaji" in pinyin and "Sides of Spine at T4" in english and may be found:

.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous processes of T4

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • T4 innervates the breast and influences the sweat glands and hair follicles, important point for breast cancer in the tam healing system, excessive, irregular or lack of sweat, inability to control body temperature and many skin problems, acne, psoriasis, etc..
  • Used extensively within the Tam Healing System and Tong Ren Therapy. May be needled and used with tuina and/or tonren therapy.

A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. EXHuatuojiaji at T4, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Heart Yin Deficiency and/or Kidney Yin Deficiency

EX Huatuojiaji at T4 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Acne, Breast Cancer, Cancer, Psoriasis, Skin Cancer, Skin Problems (Rash), Sweat Problems and/or Sweaty Palms (Hyperhidrosis)

While not necessarily valid clinically, SI 11 (Breast problems, mastitis, insufficient lactation…), UB 14 (For all heart conditions: palpitations, anxiety, …) and UB 43 ( Main point for all disorders of the Lung and Up…) are nearby.
