From a purist Chinese Medicine perspective freckles generally are a sign of blood stagnation/stasis. Having a practitioner look at all of the related signs and symptoms and treating blood stasis can clear some of the freckles (and this is the same for liver spots and related skin blemishes as well). People with freckles, however, generally have a genetic disposition towards them so proper care in the sun and other skin promoting herbs and techniques will also provide help in lightening, reducing and/or eliminating freckles.
