Interaction with Simvastatin 40 mg - Te Xiao Bi Min Gan Wan

By Archived User | Updated: Dec 31, 2021 | Published: Dec 31, 2021

Hi, I am taking Simvastatin 40 mg daily for high cholesterol. I also have seasonal allergies and want to start taking Te Xiao Bi Min Gan Wan. Do you know if there are any counter indications or interactions that I should be aware of between the two of them?
Thank you!

The correct person to ask would be the practitioner who recommended you take te xiao bi min gan wan. But generally speaking, no, there are very little herb-drug interactions particularly so if you don’t take the herbs at the exact same time as whatever western medicines you are taking and the Chinese formulas are recommended to you by a practitioner familiar with your medical history.

For statins, generally, potential things to avoid or not take around the same time are grapefruit juice, niacin, st johns wort, berberine and magnesium.
