Hello Craig,
The hammers we use are actually made for use on people. When used on people the choice of side matters somewhat, but with the doll it really doesn't. The doll will probably last longer if you don't use the waffle end of the hammer (not all hammers have that end). On people the waffle end is a little more dispersive making it useful for areas of strong muscle tension whereas the pointed end can be used for acupressure and tapping on acupuncture points - this side is generally more tonifying in nature based on how you use it.
