What is 2nd # for UB points?

By Archived User | Updated: Jan 2, 2023 | Published: Jan 1, 2023

My school and textbook didn't explain why there's another # in parentheses on the Bladder Meridian points, such as:

B 47 (42)

B 51 (46)

B 53 (48)

etc.

What's that about?

It is from an older numbering scheme, it is briefly described at the bottom of our bladder meridian in the "student/usage information" section at the bottom:

"There is an older numbering system for many of the Bladder Meridian points. To get the old numbers from the new system do the following:
On the 2nd line on the back subtract 5 to get the old number
On the posterior thigh add 14 to get the old number"

... there is an older forum thread here that has some more discussion around the old scheme.
