Technically, you need to treat the person as an individual and not choose formulas based on conditions - see “What does acupuncture treat?” for more on treating the Chinese Medicine diagnosis and not the condition/issue. So in general, you use the formula that is correct for that individual - not just for addictions. Along those lines, you don’t mention what the addiction is to, but in my opinion proper acupuncture treatment is far superior than any herbal medicine approaches.
In general, some of the formulas that are potentially useful for anxiety conditions would be similar for addictive behavior.
