The one that matches their underlying pattern - see treating the cause vs. the symptoms as to why there are no fixed protocols in Chinese Medicine.
Some combination of reading our diabetes treatment section - in particular our tcm acupuncture for diabetes and our tam healing system for diabetes along with our arthritis section and the tcm acupuncture for arthritis section, particularly at the bottom with knee focused points will get you there. There are no basic answers to your question, however, if you are going to be treat someone properly.
