I was wondering if there is a good herbal vitamin or medicine that can be taken to help with the effects of OCD. My daughter has OCD and she picks on parts of her body till it bleeds and then it becomes infected.

OCD and a range of psychiatric conditions are commonly treated with Chinese Medicine. That said, only a licensed Chinese Medicine practitioner who practices both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine who can physically see your daughter and treat her over a period of 3-6 months will be able to guide you towards the correct formula(s). Why? is explained in “What Does Acupuncture Treat?”. In short, it is because Chinese Medicine treats the roots of problems and not the symptoms. This detailed analysis requires a deep understanding of the person and consistent follow up until the situation stabilizes.

5HTP can help.It is a dietary supplement. It will not gives results in an instant, but in a few weeks the level of stress your daughter feels will be less. You may not see the results right away but she will feel it.It will take several more months before you will notice a difference. From 5HTP the body makes serotonin. Serotonin makes people happy and relaxed. But too much serotonin can be dangereous. If your daughter receives psychiatric medicationthan she most likely receives serotonin reuptake inhibitors. This is medication that increases serotonin levels. Serotonin reuptake inhibitors + 5HTP may lead to too much serotonin. If she receives serotonin reuptake inhibitors do NOT give her 5HTP.
