Five Phase Treatments - Balance the Controlling Cycle - Step Two

Step two of the Five Phase Treatment Protocol is to balance the controlling cycle. You will treat the controlling cycle for the primary sho selected in step one based on the Five Element Theory. This is diagnosed by using the pulse. In those cases where there is no clear secondary imbalance you needle the points used in step one on the opposite side (i.e. treat bilaterally).

Use #1 or smaller needles for tonification and #2 or larger needles for dispersion, on the opposite side from the sho, retaining for the remainder of the 10 minutes.
