Hi,
Only for the sake of argument I am considering He Sea Point. As we know He Sea point drains dampness through urine when stimulated generally perpendicular insertion of needle. How about tonification or sedation of SP9? does it still drains dampness??
Thanks

Practitioners will have very differing views on how to answer this. Personally I do not strongly consider needle direction in the influence of the points, but others would disagree with this to varying degrees. I consider the points more like wells that go into a web of fascial communication instead of a linear model along the lines of the meridians (see muscle sinew channels if you are unfamiliar with what I am discussing). So in short, in my clinical experience needle directionality doesn’t make much of a difference, if any, on the effect of a properly devised treatment protocol.
