KD 10 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "KD 10" , 陰谷, is represented by "Yingu" in pinyin and "Yin Valley" in english and may be found:

On the medial side of the knee joint between the tendons of semitendinosis and semimembranosus.

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

Clears damp or damp-heat in the lower warmer - urgent/difficult urination, genital pain/itching, leukorrhea, uterine bleeding.
Main treatment point of Liver Sho pattern (with LV 8) - in Japanese style Five Phase treatment protocol.

Kd 10 has the following theoretical associations which serve as important guideposts in designing an effective treatment protocol:

A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. KD10, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Bladder Damp Heat and/or Liver Yin Deficiency

KD 10 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Leukorrhea, Urinary Disorders (Lin Disease) and/or Uterine Bleeding

While not necessarily valid clinically, EX Xiyan ( All knee disorders - pain, inflammation, etc.…), LV 8 (Tonify LV Yin and Blood, clears excess heat patte…), SP 9 (He Sea point - drains dampness (generally through…), ST 35 (Knee problems. Often used with heding and the me…), UB 39 (Harmonize the triple warmer, damp heat conditions…) and UB 40 (As the Lumbar Command Point, useful for all lumba…) are nearby.
