The acupuncture point "KD 23" , 神封, is represented by "Shenfeng" in pinyin and "Spirit Seal" in english and may be found:
In the 4th ICS 2 cun lateral to CV 17.
Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:
KD 23 has some precautions to be considered (see our precautions list).
No Deep Needling (NDN)
Needle obliquely.
A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. KD23, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Lung Rebellious Qi and/or Stomach Rebellious Qi
KD 23 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Acid Reflux Disease (GERD), Asthma, Chest Pain, Cough and/or Vomiting
While not necessarily valid clinically, CV 17 (Main point for tonification of the upper warmer. …), PC 1 (Window of the Sky Point, opens the chest - fullne…), SP 18 (Descends qi - chest oppression, shortness of brea…) and ST 17 (Never needled or treated, simply a body landmark …) are nearby.
