LI 12 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "LI 12" , 肘髎, is represented by "Zhou Liao" in pinyin and "Elbow Bone Hole" in english and may be found:

With the elbow flexed, on the radial side of the upper arm 1 cun above LI 11 at the border of the humerus (1 cun superolateral to LI 11).


Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Local point for pain in the elbow and/or upper arm, tennis elbow.  

LI 12 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Arm Pain, Tendinitis and/or Tennis Elbow

While not necessarily valid clinically, TH 10 (Transforms phlegm, reduce lymph swellings, thyroi…) and TH 11 (Local Point.) are nearby.
