LV 4 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "LV 4" , 中封, is represented by "Zhong Feng" in pinyin and "Mound Center" in english and may be found:

Anterior to the medial malleolus, midway between SP 5 and ST 41, in a depression on the medial side of the tendon of tibialis anterior.

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Generally, moves stagnation and clears heat - Hepatitis, Jaundice
  • Lin Disorders.
  • Medial Knee/ankle pain.

Lv 4 has the following theoretical associations which serve as important guideposts in designing an effective treatment protocol:

While not necessarily valid clinically, KD 3 (Tonify KD Qi, Yin or Yang Deficiencies from any e…), KD 4 (Luo Connecting Point - can be used to treat the L…), KD 5 (Generally nourishes Yin and Blood and moves the u…), KD 6 (Sore throat from any etiology, especially empty h…), SP 5 (Tonifies the spleen and resolves dampness - letha…) and ST 41 (Opposite end of channel issues (i.e. head/face) -…) are nearby.
