GB 4 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "GB 4" , 頷厭, is represented by "Han Yan" in pinyin and "Forehead Fullness" in english and may be found:

Within the hairline of the temporal region at the junction of the upper 1/4 and lower 3/4 distance between ST 8 and GB 7.


Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Local Point, usually for headache


Gb 4 has the following theoretical associations which serve as important guideposts in designing an effective treatment protocol:

  • Intersection Point o the GB, TH & ST Meridians

While not necessarily valid clinically, UB 3 (Local point for headaches, nasal obstruction. Ep…) are nearby.
