ST 14 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "ST 14" , 库房, is represented by "Kufang" in pinyin and "Storeroom" in english and may be found:

4 cun lateral to the AML in the 1st ICS.

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Cough.
  • Sensation of tightness a/or fullness in the chest.

ST 14 has some precautions to be considered (see our precautions list).

No Deep Needling (NDN)
Oblique insertion only.

A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. ST14, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Lung Qi Deficiency and/or Lung Rebellious Qi

ST 14 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Cough

While not necessarily valid clinically, CV 20 ( Local point for chest issues - pain, asthma, …), KD 26 (Local Point, generally useful for cough, chest te…) and LU 1 (Lung Front MU Point - useful for all LU Issues, e…) are nearby.
