GB 37 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "GB 37" , 光明, is represented by "Guang Ming" in pinyin and "Bright Light" in english and may be found:

5 cun above the tip of the external malleolus on the anterior border of the fibula


Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Eye issues, especially LV related - redness, itching, blurry vision, night blindness, optic nerve atrophy, cataracts.
  • Lower leg, calf a/or foot problems - dropped foot, edema, atrophy, obstruction.
  • Headaches effecting the region around the eyes - temporal, infra/supraorbital, migraines.
  • Breast issues from stagnant LV Qi - pain, insufficient lactation

A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. GB37, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Liver Blood Deficiency and/or Liver Blood Stagnation
