ST 24 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "ST 24" , 滑肉門, is represented by "Huaroumen" in pinyin and "Slippery Flesh Gate" in english and may be found:

2 cun lateral to the AML level with CV 9.

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Epigastric pain, vomiting (rebellious qi).
  • Similar effects as ST 23 on phlegm related shen issues - manic depression, anxiety, mania.
  • Used with ST 23 for manic depression with stiff/thrusting tongue.

A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. ST24, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Phlegm Misting the Heart and/or Stomach Rebellious Qi

ST 24 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Anxiety, Epigastric Pain, Manic Depression and/or Vomiting

While not necessarily valid clinically, CV 9 ( Main point to move stagnation of water, espec…) are nearby.
