ST 32 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "ST 32" , 伏兔, is represented by "Futu" in pinyin and "Crouching Rabbit" in english and may be found:

6 cun above the superior lateral border of the patella on the line connecting with the ASIS.

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • ST 31, ST 32 & ST 33 are all useful for Bi-Syndromes a/or Wei Syndromes (flaccidity or weakness) of the lower legs.
  • Muscular atrophy of the lower leg, thigh, knee pain, low back pain.
  • Beriberi (thiamine, B1 deficiency).

A single acupuncture point is not commonly thought of as an empirical way to influence a TCM diagnostic pattern. ST32, however, is a strong candidate to be incorporated into an acupuncture protocol for patients who exhibit: Spleen Qi Deficiency

ST 32 may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Arthritis (Bi Syndromes), Back Pain, Knee Pain, Leg Pain, Muscle Weakness and/or Muscular Dystrophy

While not necessarily valid clinically, GB 31 (Lateral and posterior leg issues - sciatica, weak…), GB 32 (Local Point.) and SP 11 (Used for a variety of urinary issues related to a…) are nearby.
