CV 16 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "CV 16" , 中庭, is represented by "Zhong Ting" in pinyin and "Center Palace" in english and may be found:

Level with the 5th ICS, where the right and left ribs meet on the lower border of the sternum at the junction of the sternum and xiphoid process.

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

Local point for chest and intercostal distention and pain.
Hiccups, nausea, anorexia, difficulty ingesting.

While not necessarily valid clinically, KD 22 (Local Point, generally useful for cough, chest te…), SP 17 (Promotes smooth spleen qi (digestion), moves wate…) and ST 18 (Any issues with the breasts - mastitis, pain/swel…) are nearby.
