GV 24 Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "GV 24" , 神庭, is represented by "Shen Ting" in pinyin and "Spirit Court" in english and may be found:

Midway between the AHL and GV 23.

Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Local point for frontal headache, chronic sinusitis, nosebleeds, nasal discharge, excessive tearing.
  • Psychological issues with anxiety/mania as a main symptom - anxiety, panic attacks, fear, add, manic depression.
  • Epilepsy, dizziness.
  • Tong Ren/Tam Healing System: Effects the cranial nerve system, useful for all issues related to the cranial nerves, TMJ, vertigo.
  • Differentiation: GV 23 is more for nose problems whereas GV 24 is more for headaches.

Gv 24 has the following theoretical associations which serve as important guideposts in designing an effective treatment protocol:

  • Intersection Point of the Governing Vessel, Urinary Bladder & Stomach Channels

While not necessarily valid clinically, UB 3 (Local point for headaches, nasal obstruction. Ep…) and UB 4 (Local point for headache and/or nasal issues. He…) are nearby.
