EX Shang Lian Quan Acupuncture Point Applications and Theory

The acupuncture point "EX Shang Lian Quan" is represented by "Shanglianquan" in pinyin and "On The Neck" in english and may be found:

1 cun below midpoint of lower jaw, in the depression between the hyoid bone and the lower border of the jaw.


Of many possible clinical applications, it may be considered to influence the following issues/symptoms:

  • Local issues in the area - sore throat, congestion, difficulty swallowing, stiff tongue, loss of voice.
  • May be used as a local point for obstructive sleep apnea to help open the throat.

EX Shang Lian Quan may potentially be used, in coordination with a well designed acupuncture treatment protocol, to influence the following conditions: Sleep Disorders (Sleep Apnea), Sore Throat and/or Vocal Problems
